On Tuesday, 28 April, Mr. Suy Bunthan, Chairperson of the EuroCham Transport & Logistics Committee, attended the workshop organised by the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE) on the introduction of strengthened measures to prevent and suppress tax evasion, while enhancing governance within the customs administration.

During the workshop, GDCE Director General H.E. Dr. Kun Nhem highlighted the ongoing global and economic challenges affecting Cambodia and announced a series of responsive policy measures aimed at easing the burden on businesses and citizens. These measures include reductions in taxes on electric vehicles, batteries, solar equipment, and other essential goods, as well as state tax support on imported oil and gas.

Importantly, effective from 1 May 2026, GDCE will fully abolish scanner inspection fees for cargo containers, helping to reduce logistics costs and further facilitate trade.

A key highlight of the workshop was the launch of a comprehensive reform package designed to strengthen revenue collection, improve governance, and create a more level playing field for investment and trade in Cambodia.
The package consists of three main pillars:
  • Part 1: Measures to prevent tax evasion and fraud, while facilitating trade
  • Part 2: Strengthening governance within the customs administration
  • Part 3: Monitoring and implementation mechanisms
In total, the package includes 31 detailed action points.

The EuroCham Transport & Logistics Committee highly values the insights shared during this workshop and remains committed to supporting constructive dialogue that enhances Cambodia’s trade competitiveness and logistics environment.
