Tax Committee Event: Unpacking the new law on Taxation

The EuroCham Tax Committee hosted a Breakfast Talk to explain to the audience the New Law on Taxation, effective since the 16th of May 2023, all of its effects.

Indeed this new law gives the tax department broader powers, increases enforcement of penalties for non-compliance, and incorporates new definitions for Permanent Establishement and Joint Ventures.

During this event Dr. Antoine Fontaine, Partner at Bun & Associates did an insisghtful presentation on Tax Procedure Under the New Law on Taxation. Mr Joel Conson, Associate Director Tax & Corporate Services KPMG Cambodia, followed with a clear definition of Permanent Establishments (PE), and Mr. Rotanak Phay, Senior Manager Tax and Advisory Services at Deloitte provided presented on Joint Venture, Mergers &Acquisitions (MA), Public Lighting Tax (PLT), Capital Gain Tax (CGT), and Specific Tax (SPT).

The event concluded with a lively panel discussion moderated by Mr. CHUM Socheat and featuring four expert panelists: Dr. Antoine Fontaine, Ms. TOUCH DARITH Reangsey, Tax Partner at EY, Mr. Joel Vistal Conson, and Mr. PHAY Rotanak.
