Transport & Logistics Committee reflects on a year’s progress:
The Transport & Logistics Committee held its final meeting of the year on the 12th of December, looking back on the committee’s successful initiatives throughout the year. Notably, in late September, the committee sent a letter to key government agencies advocating for increased government intervention in Cambodia’s transport and logistics sector.
Following this, committee leaders met with Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol during the 7th Session of the National Logistics Council, where EuroCham was invited to present on “Cambodia’s Cross-Border Procedures and Logistics Infrastructure.”
Before the year’s final committee meeting, EuroCham also held a productive session with the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) on the 19th of November. During this session, the committee shared its report of the Deputy PM meeting, which notably resulted in the removal of the “Letter to the Director of Customs” procedural requirement.
In addition, the EuroCham team presented preliminary results from the Business Pulse Survey, revealing concerns within the private sector, such as the lack of transparency in customs systems and the high cost of logistics.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of the upcoming Transport & Logistics Forum. The proposed agenda was reviewed.
