The 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 held its fourth committee meeting of the year on Friday, 08th September to discussed significant Agribusiness-related topics and the White Book 2024 Edition, before its official launch, during the ASEAN-Cambodia Business Summit on 28th & 29th September 2023.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝:

– Committee members discussed organising a 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 to study the effects of small-scale farmers on the GDP and enterprises in rural and Cambodian areas. They also discussed the upcoming 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐚 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩, an Asia Pacific event organized by the Minister of Agriculture that focused on transitioning farmers, soil, and food security. The event will feature participants from 14 nations and is endorsed by the EuroCham AgriBiz Committee.
 

– The members also reported the findings of their internal Working Group on Peppers that advocates for the adoption of export standards from Cambodia for all producers. The method is based on three levels: Awareness raising; capacity building at the farm level; and policy level.
 
– The 2024 White Book Agribusiness Chapter will also be incorporated into the 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬, which will be introduced alongside the White Book during the ASEAN-Cambodia Business Summit. The Agribusiness Chapter focuses on six key areas:

◼️Banned Substances in Animal Production;
◼️Reportable Diseases in Livestock;
◼️Incentives for Companies Supporting Farmers;
◼️Sustainable Farming Standards for Cambodia;
◼️Reforming Labour Regulations;
◼️Strengthening Contract Farming.
 

– The Committee will also organize the 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, scheduled for 3 November. Stay tuned for more details!
