On Friday, 7 February, EuroCham Cambodia had the honour of meeting His Excellency Huot Hak, the newly appointed Minister of Tourism. The meeting highlighted Cambodia’s rich history and remarkable resilience following the war, as well as the ongoing recovery of the tourism sector after the impact of Covid-19.
EuroCham Chairman Tassilo Brinzer introduced the organisation and its commitment to supporting the formal sector and building a strong data platform for investors. Tourism & Hospitality Committee Chairwoman Catherine Germier-Hamel emphasised the Committee’s role in promoting sustainable tourism, sharing insights into Cambodia’s global appeal and drawing lessons from South Korea’s successful tourism strategies.
Executive Director Martin Brisson also presented findings from the recent Business Pulse Survey, offering valuable insights into the current outlook for Cambodia’s tourism and hospitality industry.
Looking ahead, the Minister shared his plans to attend ITB Berlin and expressed interest in collaborating with EuroCham and the German Business Chamber to strengthen ties with the German business community. He also invited EuroCham to engage with the Ministry’s technical team to further support the development of Cambodia’s tourism sector.
