On Thursday 13, February, EuroCham Cambodia, represented by Mr. Bunthan Suy (Chairman of EuroCham’s Transport & Logistics Committee), joined a key meeting with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) to address and review the transition from Phnom Penh Airport to Techo International Airport (TIA).

Neak Oknha Charles Vann, Director of Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd. (CAIC) and in charge of the new airport, also participated, along with representatives from the government, Ministry of Economy and Finance (MoEF), and General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE). The meeting was chaired by H.E. Chhieng Pich, Under-Secretary of State at MPWT.

This meeting followed a letter sent to the Prime Minister of Cambodia last October, requesting high-level intervention in the transport and logistics sector. The letter emphasised that improving infrastructure is crucial for sustaining and advancing the sector, and highlighted concerns about the tight timeline for the TIA relocation. Many EuroCham members have expressed anxiety regarding the transition of their operations to the new airport or its vicinity. The discussion specifically addressed challenges related to the new airport, the creation of a Logistics Center at TIA, and the required soft infrastructure.

The outcome of the meeting was that CAIC will work with the private sector on these matters, and the air transit regulations are currently under review by the government.
