On Monday, 14 September 2026, the EuroCham’s Tourism and Hospitality Committee met with the Phnom Penh Tourism Department to discuss the newly launched Phnom Penh Capital Tourism Development Plan (2026–2030). The meeting focused on understanding the structure and key priorities of the five-year plan, as well as seeking clarification on several areas included in the plan.
H.E. Mr. Mam Veasna, Director of the Phnom Penh Department of Tourism, highlighted that the plan places strong emphasis on green tourism, human resource development, and the informal economy within the tourism sector. The broader vision is to develop Phnom Penh into a clean, safe, attractive, and welcoming tourism destination while creating economic opportunities for local communities.
Launched jointly by the Ministry of Tourism and Phnom Penh Capital Administration, the five-year plan is built around 9 priority goals, covering Phnom Penh tourism product development, infrastructure, cleanliness, tourist safety, human resources, investment, and the promotion of green and smart tourism. To achieve these goals, the department has designed 9 strategies encompassing a total of 40 projects.
During the meeting, the Committee exchanged views and provided practical input, with particular interest in the development of Phnom Penh’s existing tourism products, access to tourism data for Phnom Penh, and potential tax incentives for the hospitality sector. The Department welcomed the Committee’s feedback, and both sides look forward to continued dialogue and collaboration to support the implementation of the plan.
