Building on the momentum generated in the transport & logistics sector, notably within the express sector, EuroCham is turning its attention to the maritime industry.

On 1 May, EuroCham and the Transport & Logistics Committee attended a meeting at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS) to discuss port development.

H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol invited the chamber following concerns raised about the port’s capacity in light of the sourcing shift discussed at the last Cambodia-EU Public-Private Sector Dialogue. He sought input from the private sector to optimise port operations.

H.E. Lou Kimchhun, Chairman and CEO of the PAS, provided a comprehensive overview of the port and its upcoming development plans.

Key updates on enhanced productivity:

🔹 Expansion of berths
🔹 Acquisition of new machinery
🔹 Projected capacity to handle 3 million TEUs by 2032

EuroCham, represented by Mr. Tassilo Brinzer and Mr. Rutger Heijsteeg, shared their feedback and concerns regarding the port.

They will continue to follow up and provide input on port management in the short term to improve efficiency.

One proposed solution is to implement a trusted truck driver registration system and establish a two-window system, with one dedicated to registered drivers, to alleviate truck backlogs.
