On Friday, 13 March, EuroCham Cambodia convened a meeting of the Garment and Manufacturing Committee, bringing together industry members to review ongoing activities and set priorities for the year ahead.
Over the past year, the Committee remained highly engaged through key consultation platforms such as the Public–Private Sector Dialogue (PPSD) and several industry brand meetings. These engagements provided structured opportunities to raise sector-specific issues and deliver recommendations directly to relevant stakeholders.
Looking ahead, the Committee is preparing a structured action plan for 2026 that focuses on addressing the garment sector’s most pressing challenges. Current efforts continue to centre on textile waste management and the development of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), with close coordination underway with the appropriate ministries and institutions. These initiatives aim to strengthen Cambodia’s regional competitiveness within the garment and textile supply chain.
The Committee also discussed the upcoming Cambodia Textile Summit 2026, co-organised by TAFTAC, ILO-BFC, GIZ, and EuroCham. The summit will feature sessions on regulatory updates, labour and skills development, logistics, and strategies for reducing textile waste. It will take place on 16 June 2026 at Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh.
In addition, the Committee reviewed the final draft of the Garment and Manufacturing chapter of the White Book 2026. Members expressed appreciation for the Advocacy Team’s efforts in aligning the chapter with the Committee’s roadmap and acknowledged the valuable input provided by various members. The White Book is scheduled for official launch in Q2 2026.
Sector-wide concerns were also raised, particularly the impact of rising logistics costs, which are being driven in part by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. These pressures continue to affect both import and export operations, and the Committee will maintain close monitoring while gathering feedback from members.
Overall, the Committee reaffirmed its commitment to advancing a more sustainable, competitive, and resilient garment sector in Cambodia.
