On Tuesday, 12 December 2023, the ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ก๐๐ฆ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ & ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ held its last committee meeting of the year to find a collective solution to current problems facing the tourism industry.ย The following points were discussed:
Committee Chairmanย Jacques G.ย conducted a survey before the meeting and found that 65% of committee members had lower turnover this year than in 2019 while 80% reported having trouble finding new hires. In addition, the government’s top priorities for the industry are facilitating tax breaks, financial assistance, and marketing campaigns to draw more investors.

The committee is eagerly anticipating the establishment of the ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐๐จ๐๐ซ๐, following Prime Minister’s declaration at the most recent Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF) in mid-November.

The ๐๐ข๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ข๐ ๐ง is a first step towards addressing the current issues in tourism, which was also revealed during the G-PSF. However, as this campaign is meant to be a temporary to intermediate solution, members are looking forward to future efforts.

The committee also firmed up its 2024 plans which includeย ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ฌ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฅ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐ ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ญ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ. The committee will meet again in early February 2024 to review all the progress made.
