EuroCham Tourism and Hospitality Committee had its first meeting of the year 2024 on Wednesday 7th February to share the plans for the year 2024 and mainly to prepare the courtesy call on H.E. Sok Soken. The conversation was then focused on three pillars:
- The state of the tourism industry in Cambodia: The number of the Angkor ticket sales and tourist arrivals between 2019 and 2023. There is a significant drop of approximately 58% in ticket sales in 2023 compared to 2019. This reflect a structural issue within the Tourism industry in Cambodia.
- Cambodia Tourism Board(CTB): In accordance with the successful defend on the draft sub-decree revision on the organization and functions of the CTB and Marketing Board by the H.E. Minister Sok Soken at the Plenary Meeting of the council minister, our committee has anticipates the official establishment of the CTB and its potential impact on the tourism industry in Cambodia.
- These two points were mentioned during the Courtesy meeting on Monday the 12th at the Ministry of Tourism, this specific committee meeting was also the occasion to prepare specific arguments to the Ministry to reshape the Tourism industry: destination marketing, visa policy, fiscal policy and more.
