The EuroCham Tourism & Hospitality Committee convened its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. The following subjects were discussed by the Committee under the direction of Mr. Jacques Guichandut:
▪️ Key statistics: To identify the causes of the decline in tourist arrivals before the COVID-19 crisis, members exchanged information on industry indicators. In simple terms, the pandemic accelerated this trend. However, the Committee was also able to identify promising developments for the sector and explore commercial opportunities that Cambodia could offer.
▪️ Key focus areas: The Committee intends to host a number of events, including one on training for the tourism and hospitality industries, one on ecotourism, and, most importantly, one focused on developing a roadmap to promote Cambodia’s tourism sector.
▪️ White Book 2023: The Committee will have its own chapter in EuroCham’s flagship publication for the first time in 2023. Topics include building preservation, tax-related issues, and the development of special tourism economic zones.
The Committee will continue to advocate for solutions to the challenges faced by professionals in the tourism industry.
