The Transport and Logistics Forum 2023, organized by EuroCham’s Transport & Logistics Committee, was successfully held on April 20 at the Raffles Hotel Le Royal, with the honour of welcoming H.E. SUN Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as the keynote speaker for the opening remarks and a brief audience Q&A.
Main takeaways from the event:
- H.E. CHHEANG Pich provided infrastructure updates, during which he discussed the Comprehensive Intermodal Transport Master Plan 2022–2030 (CIT-MP), which aims to develop and improve the transportation and logistics system. A 2030 transportation forecast was also presented, along with the latest logistics and transportation trends and developments.
- Mr. CHEA Samnang presented the latest customs updates, including the Strategy for Customs Reform and Modernization (2019–2023) to modernize customs administration and enhance trade facilitation. He also provided updates on the Best Trader and AEO Strategies, as well as the 2030 Customs Automated System.
- H.E. LOU Kim Chhun discussed progress on the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), one of the four key economic pillars to be developed as a Multipurpose Special Economic Zone. He also shared updates on the Sihanoukville Port SEZ (SPSEZ), new container terminal developments, PAS freight data (2018–2022), and other related topics.
- Mr. Prayag Chitrakar shared the latest industry trends in the freight market. Between 2023 and 2028, the Cambodian logistics industry is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5%, driven by four key sectors: agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and commercial and residential construction.
