Ahead of the upcoming Healthcare Committee Leadership Election on 15 September, the Committee held its final meeting of the 2024–2026 mandate to review recent activities, share advocacy updates, and discuss upcoming initiatives.
Key Meeting Highlights
- Past Events – Financing Digital Health Breakfast – 27th May: This event covered digital health infrastructure, payment models, digital claims, and AI integration. Following strong positive feedback, members and attendees suggested future event topics including the overall healthcare outlook, pharmaceuticals, Universal Health Coverage, and the NSSF.
- PPSD Updates – Healthcare Chapter: The advocacy team shared updates on Healthcare recommendations regarding redundant medicine approvals and Stringent Regulatory Authorities (SRA). The recommendation has been acknowledged by the CDC and the MoH while the MoH also shared that it is holding monthly meetings to improve the medicine approval process and is working on a new Joint Prakas to reduce the medicine registration timeline. In addition, the MoH is working with Techo Startup to develop a new online portal for medicine registration, which is expected to launch in 2027. - Upcoming Healthcare Innovation Forum: The Committee is also preparing for the 3rd edition of the Healthcare Innovation Forum, which will take place on 22 October 2026. This year’s event scope will cover key areas including policy and public-private partnerships, healthcare financing and insurance, connected care and digital health infrastructure, pharmacy and supply chain access, diagnostics and medical technology, as well as AI, workforce development, academia, and continuous professional development.
- Upcoming Leadership Elections: The session highlighted the importance of active leadership in guiding the Committee’s priorities, supporting advocacy efforts, and contributing to the development of future activities and initiatives. Members, particularly those from the pharmaceutical sector, are encouraged to consider taking an active role in the Committee’s next leadership mandate.
