On March 25, EuroCham was pleased to convene a constructive technical dialogue with the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) on the evolving role of renewable energy in supporting Cambodia’s economic growth in the face of increasingly sustainability-driven global value chains.
During the courtesy call, EuroCham’s advocacy department, Garment & Manufacturing Chairperson together with member businesses shared insights on the growing importance of credible and internationally aligned approaches to renewable energy reporting. This includes both companies operating in Cambodia—seeking to address Scope 1 and 2 emissions—and international partners sourcing from the country, who are working toward fully sustainable supply chains by 2030 under Scope 3 commitments.
Green Business Committee members highlighted the importance of practical, transparent mechanisms that enable companies to track and report their renewable energy use in line with global reporting standards. EuroCham highlighted that such frameworks are increasingly central to investment decisions in, and export competitiveness of Cambodia.
The Ministry shared their clear vision of further promoting Renewable Energy use in Cambodia. In the development of this framework both parties committed to ongoing dialogue and engagement as they recognised that will be key to ensuring that Cambodia remains well-positioned to meet both national development goals and the evolving expectations of international supply chains.
